Facebook Allows More Friends For Influencers

TechCrunch reports that Facebook has lifted the 5,000 friend limit on Facebook accounts. The limit only affected about 1,000 of 70 million profiles, but the move is an important one. Personal profiles with a user’s personal status updates offer celebrities or public officials a more intimate connection with their fans than a fan page.

Lifting the cap will allow top users to leverage their “personal brand” on Facebook and turn it into a mass distribution method, even allowing all 820,000 Barack Obama fans to see what Barack is Twittering.
