Neilsen Disects The Online Media Landscape

Neilsen has a really interesting report out covering the online landscape. I highly recommend looking at it. I found it as valuable as the McCann Social Media Wave 3.0 study done last year.

The study covers the obvious shift in audience we’re all witnessing in front of our eyes. Newspapers are evaporating and social media sites are exploding.

Main conclusions:
Online web usage is getting a longer tail - McCann uncovered more website categories growing in popularity
Video and social media have the steepest growth curves
Long form video is growing
Mobile internet usage is exploding

I am trying to find out online sites or resources that have information about marketing and advertising. ie: trends, forcastings, etc. I know of some such as the IAB, Comscore, but are there more major ones I should know about?

Many people now a days are hooked up with social media sites, That's why many businessmen came up with the idea of using these sites to market their products, well I guess they had come to a perfect idea for marketing through Web 2.0 sides had been very effective

Social media are really powerful.. There are lots of features and application you can use...
It really done a great impact to us.. So I guess this is goodbye for the newspaper...

We've come to appreciate, even if we don't conciously recognise it, the elements of 'information architectures.' Think of the different information architectures in place for newspapers, books, TV, meetings over coffee, whatever - each has different form, function, component set, means of distribution and consumption, and temporal considerations. The internet brings a whole new set of criteria, and its a fascinating time for those experimenting.
