Want More Money? Try Our Interstitials
Interstitials are nothing new, but they have been a best kept secret … even from me. Interstitials are ad units that consume an entire page between an application’s work flow (i.e. in between comparing people). Because they command a user’s attention, the units perform about 5x better than normal banners.
How to use them
Interstitials are best used in applications with a long work flow. Compare People, for instance, gets people into a long engagement loop of rating their friends. Every ten comparisons or so, they show the user an interstitial before they can get back to rating the next batch. This means fewer impressions, but they’re higher quality.
